PRECISION KIDD (PK) STEEL manufactures value engineered, custom cold drawn steel bars and wires with special profile (extruded) shapes and in standard shapes that save our customers money by reducing machining steps, while improving yields and productivity. We’re an independent producer of cold drawn products and are not tied to one steelmaker. We have more than 20 approved steel suppliers, both domestic and international. This enables us to optimize cost, availability, quality and material properties for each application. Our raw material specifications are the most comprehensive in the cold drawing industry.
PK and its force of highly talented employees have built an outstanding reputation for specializing in the manufacturing of High Quality, Close Tolerance, Cold Drawn Steel Bars and Steel Wire in Standard Sections and Customer Designed/Special Steel Shapes & Steel Profiles. These products are manufactured in a wide variety of steels: Carbon, Alloy, Free Machining, Leaded, Tool Steels and Stainless Steels. While Honoring the Past …
Well over one hundred years ago, four brothers from England named Kidd started a steel wire manufacturing business in Harmarville, Pennsylvania that has evolved and grown to become the company we are today. At that time (1885), they could not have anticipated the trying times ahead: A family feud … an outside partner who absconded with trade secrets and key employees … a fire which totally destroyed the factory … bankruptcy, and more. Kidd Steel Wire Company is founded in Harmarville, PA.
1902
New plant opens in Aliquippa, PA after fire destroys the old plant, which had been located in McKees Rocks, PA.
1966
Business is acquired by Precision Industries and re-named Precision-Kidd.
1978
Second production facility opens in Clinton, PA.
1992
Precision Kidd Steel Co., Inc. is incorporated as a stand-alone entity. Precision Kidd Employees Union and PK sign an on-going contract in perpetuity.
2002
QS 9000 Certificate of Registration.
2005
ISO 9001:2000 - ANSI/ISO/ASQ - Q9001-2000 Certificate of Registration.
